About GRAT
The Global Responses to Asymmetric Threats (GRAT) project is managed by the Irregular Warfare and Conflict Assessment Group (IWCAG) and hosted at the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland. Since its inception IWCAG has included a team of interdisciplinary researchers led by Dr. Elizabeth Radziszewski. Dr. Radziszewski, Associate Research Scientist at START, specializes in insurgencies, international rivalries, and private military and security companies. She is the author of Private Militaries and the Security Industry in Civil Wars: Competition and Market Accountability (Oxford University Press, 2020) and Social Networks and Public Support for the European Union (Routledge, 2013). She received her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
